Grain-Free Cat Food

Food products that are grain-free simply means that they do not contain any grains e.g. corn, wheat, rice and barley. This type of food is usually only fed to cats with grain allergies so if you suspect that your pet has food allergies, consult a veterinarian. The most common and fastest way to find out what food your pet is allergic to is to use an elimination test. Examples of allergic symptoms are itchiness, bald patches and inflamed skin.

Some common replacements of grains are fruits and vegetables like potatoes, apples and peas. These are great sources of fibre, vitamins and minerals which help to boost the immune system and all health aspects. Aside from that, there are also certain grain-free formulas that may contain similar carbohydrate proportions to grain foods, in order to provide balanced nutrition.
