Rabbit Food

A rabbit’s diet should consist of a mixture of high-quality pellets, hay, fresh vegetables and water. At Pet Lovers Centre, we have a wide range of rabbit food from popular brands such as Oxbow and Harringtons to keep your rabbit strong and healthy.

When selecting the right pellets for your rabbit, look out for those that have a minimum of 18% fibre and 12% protein to promote healthy digestion. It is imperative for pellets to stay fresh; therefore, pet parents should not buy more than six weeks’ worth of pellets at one go as this may cause the food to go bad. A good estimate would be to feed your adult rabbit 25g of fibre-rich and low protein dry food for every 1kg of his body weight.

Other than feeding your pet dry food such as pellets, you can also combine it with fresh vegetables and water. Lastly, another component of your rabbit’s diet would be hay, with the common types being timothy and orchard hay. Incorporating this into your pet’s diet is important as it reduces the chances of hairballs and should, hence, be available for your rabbit always.
