Caging cats may not seem like a common practice, but there are several reasons for doing so. It is usually instinctive for them to relieve themselves on litter boxes. However, this may not be the case if bad habits are picked up from other cats living under the same roof. In that case, putting them in a confined space will instil positive habits in them and after a month or so, they can do without a cage.

Some other reasons for caging cats would be to encourage social interaction or to ease tension when a new cat is introduced in your home.
