To ensure that your growing, pregnant or post-surgery rabbit gets the nutrition he needs, Pet Lovers Centre has stocked variations of alfalfa hay for rabbits. Featuring brands such as Oxbow, Burgess and Marukan, we have a wide array of products with different flavours and sizes.
There are various types of hay including alfalfa hay, orchard grass and timothy hay, with each of them having contrasting nutritional benefits.
Alfalfa hay for rabbits is designed to be rich in protein and calcium. It provides the energy required for baby rabbits aged 6 months and below as well as pregnant and post-surgery rabbits. It should, hence, be fed to these pets as their main source of hay, totalling up to 25% of their diet. Adult rabbits, on the other hand, should only be fed a limited amount as overconsumption will lead to urinary stones.
To make eating more fun, PLC has brought in alfalfa products like cubes and cakes to double up as a great chewing exercise for your pet. These are beneficial for trimming their teeth to improve dental health. One tip to take note when purchasing hay is to ensure that it is absolutely free of preservatives and additives.
