Though we cannot pinpoint the exact cause of such behavior of your cat at hand. Allow us to cite some highlights why do cats behave in such way:
1. If the cat is still kitten (less than a year), this is normal. We suggest to provide appropriate diet and warmth environment. This may help the kitten feel at ease, hence "meowing or crying" can be minimal.
2. If the cat is within the puberty stage (sexual maturity) (particularly female, approximately around 6-10 months old), it can be a sign of "heat".
