Your conjunctivitis may or may not be related to your pet's condition. This can be due to dirt residues upon handling your pets. It is highly recommended for wash your hands before and after handling your small animal pets to avoid such occurrence. For the time being, we suggest to flush and wash your own eyes with running water and use eye wash solutions. In cases whereby it won't resolve within 3 to 5 days refer to your attending physician immediately.
In relation to your guinea pig, crusty eyes can sometimes be caused by poking hay or dusts from hay residues and beddings. Check these possible causes and keep your guinea pig's cage dry and clean. It is a common scenario in guinea pigs. There are products which are good in cleaning and reducing the inflammation of your pet's crusty eyes. If signs persist, refer to your veterinarian.
