With regards to your chinchilla's concern, major causes of such problem include fungal skin infections due to relatively high humidity as a risk factor. We suggest to use anti fungal cream topically, monitor closely and if signs persist refer to your veterinarian immediately for appropriate intervention. The causes are tentative and definitive identification can be done through laboratory examinations by your veterinarian.
In the meantime, continue to provide necessary care to your chinchilla, provide good beddings and keep it clean and dry. Beddings which are left wet and uncleaned are good media for fungus to grow hence may cause skin issues on your pet.
To highlight further, minimize the stress of the part of your chinchilla. They should be kept in a quiet environment. These pets are sensitive to loud noises which may cause stress that relatively brings down their immune competencies. Hence, prone to medical problems, including skin issues.
