Rowel C. De Guia of Mondragon Northern Samar, Philippines is a natural, born pet lover.

His love for animals had been the reason for taking Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Eastern Philippines. He worked as Resident Veterinarian in GSC Pet Care Center for 4 years. While working in that clinic, animal behavior aroused his curiosity and led him to dog training as his main interest.

In 2003 he was able to create his own training system which resulted in the development of multi-tasking dogs (dogs trained to perform different categories of functions, like service dogs, guide dogs, companion dogs etc). He went on to establish Gensan Dog School which catered to advanced training in obedience, agility, sniffing, protection, and tricks. He also served as head trainer of PHDX (Pine Town High Drive Extreme) where he developed various “extreme” dogs and their handlers, where dogs had to perform extreme exercises. This experience earned him the title of “Extremist” amongst his friends and colleages.

He went on to establish the K9 ASTEAG (Agility Sports Team Gensan) to assist the dog sports team in Southern Philippines, by designing and implementing specific training programs, conducting seminars and actively participating in competitions.

Given his keen interest in dog training, he pursued his further understanding through decoy/helper work to gain his Mondio Ring Level – 1 Decoy Certification which was conducted by Judge Claude Dopp from France. He also attained his USDAA Judge accreditation which was conducted by the USDAA Chairman Kenneth Thatsch from Dallas Texas, USA. Rowel is one of the privileged few with such an accreditation because including him, there are only seven in the Philippines, and three in Singapore. Because of his full understanding and experience in dog training, he was awarded by the Mindanao Economic Development Council, to be the Training Service Provider of the Brunei – Indonesia – Malaysia – Philippines – East ASEAN Support Team on Custom, Immigration, Quarantine, and Security.

Dr Rowel is currently a pet care/trainer consultant with Pet Lovers Centre Pte Ltd.
