Pets welcome at this new concept retail outlet

Where else in Singapore can you look for virtually any type of pets and get all your pet-related needs - food, accessories and services like grooming, under one roof? Where your pets are welcome as you shop for toys and kids-wear, and conveniently 'park' your pet. While you browse or stop for a drink at a cafe.

The answer is Pet Safari, an air-conditioned 10,000 square feet retail outlet at Eastpoint, located next to Simei MRT station and bus terminal. This new concept store bringing 11 well-established pet retailers under one roof is the brainchild of Pet Lovers Centre and NTUC.

Said Ms. Eunice Tan, Manager of Pet Safari : "Since starting up in September last year, we have had encouraging resource from pet lovers Pet Safari is an economic grouping and all members with outlets here are leading pet retailers in Singapore."

It is a breakthrough in the highly fragmented pet industry, which enables members to realise competitive advantages, difficult to attain through individual efforts.

"With this one-stop concept, customers need not go to several places to look for pets or to get merchandise and services for their pets. They can also share with their pets the excitement of shopping and look for toys and kids-wear as well as shop for consumables and snacks which are sold at our $1.99 store, all within the venue," said Ms Tan.

Stepping into this store is like going on a safari as the 'back-to-nature' design theme provides shoppers with a visual treat - lots of greenery, logs and leaves as well as signages in the shape of banana leaves.

Among others, shoppers can have a special picture of themselves with their pets with the help of digital imaging services, or pick up the latest in fashion for their dogs at a pet boutique. A trip to Pet Safari can be turned into an educational visit for children as it is a veritable zoo with retailers displaying fish, birds, small furry animals and a reptile corner by Jurong Reptile Park.

With growing affluence and higher education, it is to be expected that more people will keep a pet of be more effective to the needs of their pets. Hence the interest of Pet Lovers Centre to initiate this winning retailing concept with NTUC. With seven outlets, Pet Lovers operates the biggest local pet-care chain in Singapore.
