Pet Safari facilitates pet-shopping

Pet Lovers out there, brace yourselves for a whole new shopping experience.

Gone are the days when you have to depend on small and stuffy pet shops with animals restrained in claustrophobic cages. There is now a fully air-conditioned pet safari tucked away cosily in Simei.

The moment you set foot on its attractive abode, the first thing that strikes you is the absence of animal stench that can sometimes be overwhelming in conventional pet stores. There is only the faint sound of chirping and the occasional bark here and there. This can be attributed to the well-organised and properly enclosed areas for the various species of pets available.

The safari theme is reflected in the decor of the place and the wilderness is also portrayed with synthetic trees, shrubbery and animal figures, thus making the shopping experience more interesting and memorable.

The Pet Safari Singapore, occupying an area of 10,000 s square feet, is the brainchild of Pet Lovers Centre. The Safari facilitates convenient shopping for pet lovers by gathering many independent tenants, who supply specific varieties of pet animals and pet accessories, under one roof.

Pet Safari is touted to be the first and largest of its kind in South East Asia. Mr. Daniel Lam, a spokesperson for Pet Lovers Centre, says they are hopeful for future opportunities for expansion, or even to come up with something better than this Safari.

Different types of animals are segregated into various sections of this single-leveled 'safari'. Birds possess their won enclosure where Orange-cared Waxbills, Grey Singing Finches and Budgies flex both their multi-coloured wings and sweet vocals in harmonious symphony.

Furry chinchillas scurry about uninhibited in an enclosed miniature park, while hyperactive Roborskis (they look like while mice but are even smaller and cuter) flaunt their stuff by jogging tirelessly on rotatable wheels and peeking out of a little wooden house.

This is also the home of numerous varieties of fish, hamsters, rabbits, terrapins and puppies.

Besides pets, there are also pet accessories and other gifts that doting owners can purchase for their furry and feathered pals.

Proud pet owners can bring their cuddly companions down to the Pet Safari to choose their own toys from a 'supermarket' that stocks up on leashes, toys, tanks and other intriguing animal paraphernalia.

Dog cookie treats with delectable names like 'peanut butter sandwich cream' and 'vanilla sandwich cream' sound good enough to be devoured by humans.

To many, a pet concept store like this is refreshing and beneficial for pet lovers as they can learn more about their pets there.

An employee there, Mr. Ben Law, 19, says "We are here to educate people about pets, to let people be more knowledgeable regarding the proper care of them."
